What is the NPP?

The NPP is a local authority-owned and Department for Transport (DfT) funded project that brings customer experience into the 21st century by facilitating data exchange, digital payments, and a new way of delivering better parking and mobility services

Phase 1 -
Multi-vendor Payments

DfT goal: Allow drivers to choose their favourite cashless app that works UK-wide. Remove Local Authority costs and bureaucracy to create the best public service

Current status: 5 UK councils are live, with all councils live by 2025

The Parking Platform™: Empowers councils such as Harrogate, to provide the best driver-centric cashless solution using AppyParking+ mobile app

Phase 2 -
Digital TROs

DfT goal: A centralised ‘data lake’ of UK-wide digital kerbside maps (TROs). Digitisation creates efficiencies for local authorities and accelerates sustainability and decarbonisation targets through connected car services

Current status: Alpha project underway, a UK-wide map of digital TROs expected by 2025

The Parking Platform™: 20+ UK councils already benefiting from digital TRO efficiencies. AppyWay’s end-to-end API empowers UK motorists with digital kerbside maps covering over 500 towns and cities

Occupancy Data

DfT goal: Real-time on and off-street data created from NPP stakeholders by 2025

Current status: Real-time off-street data trial successful in 2022
