Blackpool Council has officially renewed its partnership with AppyWay, signing a three-year contract extension via a direct award on the G-Cloud framework.

This renewal marks a significant milestone in our collaborative journey. Blackpool originally joined the AppyWay community after migrating from a legacy service provider: a transition that involved an extensive onboarding process and a large-scale data migration. Since then, the Blackpool team has become a leading power user of our Traffic Suite, utilising the platform to manage the council’s kerbside and traffic orders.

Insights from the Front Line

Anthony Power, Traffic & Parking Manager at Blackpool Council, has been a driving force behind the council’s digital transformation. He shared his thoughts on the next phase of our partnership:

The transition to AppyWay was a significant undertaking, but the benefits of having a fully digitised inventory of our kerbside have been invaluable. As we look toward the next three years, our focus is on supporting Blackpool’s ambitious regeneration, including the Talbot Gateway development and the Blackpool Central scheme.
These projects require significant changes to our highway network. Using Traffic Suite, we can accurately map and move traffic orders in days rather than months, allowing us to reconfigure parking, loading bays, and pedestrian zones in real-time. This agility is essential for the delivery of our Local Transport Plan, helping us reduce congestion and improve the visitor experience as we move towards a more sustainable, 'future-ready' Blackpool.

Looking Ahead: 2026 and Beyond

With major projects like the multiversity development and further investments in the Fylde Coast transport network underway, Blackpool is at the forefront of municipal innovation. AppyWay is proud to provide the digital infrastructure that helps Anthony and his team manage these changes with precision and ease.

We look forward to supporting the “Capital of Fun” as it continues its journey towards becoming a world-class, digitally enabled destination.
