What the Self-Driving Industry Awards judges said

The judges started with a problem every driver in London knows. Stopping, waiting, staging and parking in the capital fall under four different legal acts. London also has several highway authorities, each with its own rule book.

AppyWay’s Traffic Suite answers two questions for any vehicle, autonomous or not:

  • Where can this vehicle legally pause right now?
  • For how long?

They also recognised our campaign for D-TROs.

Why D-TRO matters for automated vehicles

A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) sets the rules for a street: where you can park, load or stop, and when. Many TROs are still published as paper or PDF documents. A person reads them. A machine cannot.

Digital TROs (D-TROs) publish those rules as standard, machine-readable data. Connected and automated vehicles, fleets and navigation apps then read the same rules a traffic officer enforces.

Thank you

Thank you to Cars of the Future and the judges. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. Thank you to the councils and partners who have worked with us on digitising traffic orders so far.

Getting ready for D-TRO?

If you work at a traffic authority, the D-TRO deadline is close. Visit our D-TRO Hub to see how Traffic Suite helps you digitise and publish your traffic orders.
